Island Life

LIVING ON OAHU

The passing days and experiences can be quite different living on an isolated land mass in the middle of the South Pacific. There are pros, cons, tip and tricks to living anywhere. Whether it's finding a new job, deciding what to pack for that upcoming island vacation, or how to find new friends on your new island home, hopefully this little blog lends a helping hand.

Give Back to the Island

Immerse yourself in your new surroundings. Hawaii is the melting pot of the South Pacific and home to an incredible number of cultures and traditions. There is so much to do and see, with endless weekend activities geared toward the betterment of the island. In my opinion, unless you are bettering the island and its people/economy, there is very little reason to move here strictly to benefit from it's beauty. One of my favorite things to do my part in island sustainability is weekend beach cleanups. There are many non-profit organizations on island that dedicate all of their free time and efforts into cleaning the beaches. Microplastics are a HUGE problem in Hawaii, and will be for the foreseeable future if we do not cut back on non-reusable plastics in our lives. Imagine walking up to a beach with "blue" sand... blue from the billions of visible plastic particles washed up on the shoreline. Travel up to the Northeast corner of Oahu and this is the new normal, it is heartbreaking. Click the link below to check out more information on a few of the volunteer services I've had the pleasure of working with. Hawaii will thank you!
